One hundred and sixty- eight students along with their parents gathered in Questelles, St. Vincent & the Grenadines with great excitement for our annual Back to School SVG event held on Saturday,August 17th, 2019.  The event was co-sponsored by the Huggins Family USA. This year’s participants were from the villages of Questelles, Dubois, Clare Valley, Buccament, Lowmans and Rylan Hill.  It was a rainy, yet enjoyable day.  Students engaged in tye dye activities , spelling bees, designing their own craft tote bags, working with playdough, drawing, physical activities and games.

Our teams of volunteers were superb. Those in the kitchen prepared sandwiches and juice for breakfast and BBQ chicken, rice and macaroni salad for lunch, followed by mouthwatering pound cake for dessert.   Others assisted with classroom activities and the distribution of the bookbags.

Six teachers were recognized for their contributions to the field of education and were given certificates  and gifts. The top twenty-one student performers for the academic year ending June 2019 were also given certificates and gifts (some were not present at the event so we had to go looking for them and were successful in our attempt).  We were told by some parents that they were not in attendance because they did not have the money for transportation.  Other parents said that they borrowed the transportation money so as not to miss out on the opportunity to get the gifts for their children.

Bookbags filled with educational supplies (notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons drawing papers), toothbrushes, toothpaste, sanitizer, lotion, soap, clothing and shoes were distributed to the participants.

Parents and students alike were very appreciative and expressed their desire that this be a yearly event in their community.  HELP FOR HUMANITY wants to continue to provide assistance to these needy students and others in similiar situations.  You, our donors  and supporters can continue to help us to do so. Please go to our donate page to help us.

HELP FOR HUMANITY is pleased to offer financial assistance to Usina Ally for a two-year program in Food Production at the University of Tourism, Technology and Business Studies in Rwanda.

Usina Ally writes: ”To the HELP FOR HUMANITY  I would like to thank you for giving me a great opportunity to continue my studies in college by helping me with the school fees and transport, I’m very happy and excited to continue in college. It’s been two years since I finished secondary school, every day I wondered how and when will I be able to continue my studies and in which way will that happen, but I did never lose hope to God I knew this day would come as long as I continue to have faith in Lord. Now that God has done his work through you (HELP FOR HUMANITY) I will use this opportunity to make improvements in my life by studying hard to succeed and make my parents proud. Once again thank you so much. I greatly appreciate your support in my studies, I pray for God to continue to do good for you, so that you continue to change the lives of those who need support May God bless you abundantly. Thank you for your time, consideration “

We could not have helped Usina Ally were it not for our dedicated donors and supporters.  A very special thank you to you all.

August 2018

HELP FOR HUMANITY'S annual Back To School SVG was held in Spring Village on August 6th, 2018. Students, teachers and parents from schools in Coulls Hill, Barrouallie and Spring Village were in attendance. Our morning activities consisted of Hopscotch, Jump Rope, Tie-Dye, Arts and Crafts, and Reading competition. The students had callaloo soup as a morning snack. The day progressed with acknowledgement of teachers and parents who consistently contributed to their children's education and the schools over the past school year. They were given certificates and gifts of appreciation. Students who excelled academically during the past school year were also given certificates and special gifts. Lunch consisted of BBQ chicken, rice, salad and juice.

We celebrated the birthdays of students born in the month of August with birthday cake and gifts after which prizes were given out to the winners of the reading competition. Two hundred students received Bookbags filled with notebooks, crayons, pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pens, construction paper, storybooks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, lotion and T-shirts. We ended the day with them selecting from a wide variety of clothes and shoes. The children left quite happy after consuming cake.

Many parents expressed their gratitude and satisfaction. As always, we had left over supplies and clothes. These were donated to a summer literacy program, a preschool and also to vacation bible school students in Barrouallie.

Sincere thanks to the Huggins Family USA and to all who donated and supported our efforts. May the good Lord bless you immensely.

AUGUST 2017

H4H held a back to school event  in Barrouallie, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The event was a huge success.  Ten barrels filled with bookbags, school supplies, toiletries and clothing were distributed to over 150 students. We also fed them a meal consisting of pelau, BBQ chicken, rice and peas with a green salad. They had cupcakes as we celebrated birthdays of students born in the month of August. Special gifts were distributed to those students who did very well in school last academic year. We could not have done it without the help of several local residents.

A workshop was also conducted for parents on the topic "Enhancing your child's self esteem".

Two barrels packed with storybooks were donated to the public library. We had five bookcases made and assisted in setting up the library. We also decorated the library with drawings the students made during our activity time that Saturday. Left over items were donated to two churches for their Vacation Bible School programs. One special teacher received books and other items for her classroom. See photos on our Photo Album page.

JINGLES FOR KNOWLEDGE PROGRAM

Hi Mama Diaby,

From Rwanda I greet you in the name of Jesus! How are you and how is your family? Hope all is well with you. I am glad to write you this email.

I was glad to get sponsorship from you and HELP FOR HUMANITY.  I remember when I have been struggling to get school fees and the school requirements.  And I met the pastor in the office when I am confused. I got him to pray for me and he prayed over me and taught me to be patient and that God would provide for me.  So I waited and now I thank the Lord that He has done through you Mama Diaby and HELP FOR HUMANITY.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to sit in class and study.  I am feeling comfortable in class and I now follow well my studies. Thank you very much and may God bless you so much.  Now my parents are happy because the money you gave the Pastor to pay my school fees, he paid the whole year and the remaining money he bought me school requirements and I shared some with my brothers and sisters. They are also glad for the blessings you have given me.

My father was in prison and life was very hard.  And now he is released though he doesn’t have a job yet. He is looking for one and life is not yet better. I am glad because with school fees I am okay because you are providing for me. Mum and Dad are very glad for the action of love you have shown me.

May God abundantly bless you and I pray for increase in your life in whatever you do.

Joseph
